![]() Do you have bits and pieces of stuff you just can’t seem to discard? Pieces of ribbon, cards, letters, photographs and other articles that keep hanging around with no purpose or intent other than the fact you can’t quite part with them. If you are like me, YOU DO! Instead of letting them lay around as cluttered trash, take those little treasures and put them to good use by creating lasting memories. It’s amazing what evolves from these otherwise worthless trinkets when they are combined in a collage. The act itself of choosing each piece that works together will evoke beautiful memories from their origins. Once you have them on the canvas, you have not only revived these precious memories but you have saved them forever in a new work of art that will continue to bring you joy forever. I have been doing collages with bits and pieces of trash that have become treasure for years. Below are some of the paintings I have done that were a collection of my memories. Give it a whirl - it costs nothing and the value is priceless!

AuthorBJ Pinkston has always loved to draw. She said, “My first memory is a mural I drew on the blackboard in the third grade. It was dinosaurs in colored chalk. The teacher left it up for the entire year. I was so proud!” She described her style as a mix of Impressionism and Abstract Impressionism. She noted that like many artists in the beginning she painted realistic detailed paintings, but as the years have passed, her style has evolved….less detail and more freedom. BJ’s passion when it comes to a medium to use is watercolors. However, she will use any medium or mix of mediums that will best represent her ideas. She said she choose watercolors because she loved the “flow of paint and it was the first class I took and I was hooked for life.” She gets her ideas from everywhere and makes notes of what she sees. She likes nature and organic images and her mixed media art comes from her imagination. Archives
